  Thallus endophloeodal to epiphloeodal, to c. 200 µm thick, greyish green to pale olive, rarely pale yellowish grey, dull, smooth to slightly uneven, strongly verruculose, rimose. Protocortex discontinuous, rarely continuous, to c. 20 µm thick. Algal layer continuous or discontinuous, well developed; calcium oxalate crystals frequent, clustered, often embedded in the substratum. Vegetative propagules not seen. Ascomata inconspicuous, to c. 0.2 mm diam., ±rounded, becoming apothecioid, erumpent, solitary, immersed to rarely slightly emergent, then depressed-hemispherical. Disc usually not visible from above, very rarely becoming partly visible, whitish, epruinose. Pores minute to small, to c. 0.6 (–0.1) mm diam., predominantly irregular, formed by the apical margin of the proper exciple; pore margin and visible part of the proper exciple ±split, fused to indistinctly free, off-white to pale brownish, incurved. Thalline rim thin to thick, becoming slightly layered, split to slightly lacerate, occasionally eroded, brownish, sometimes indistinctly contrasted by off-white to pale brownish layers; outer thalline rim concolorous with the thallus, incurved to erect. Proper exciple becoming apically to almost completely free, thick, hyaline to pale yellowish internally, greyish to brown or slightly carbonised marginally, sometimes with substratum inclusions, often amyloid below. Hymenium to c. 100 µm thick, not inspersed, strongly conglutinated; paraphyses straight, parallel to slightly interwoven, unbranched, with or without slightly thickened tips; lateral paraphyses usually very inconspicuous, to c. 15 µm long; columellar structures absent. Epihymenium hyaline, rarely with fine greyish or colourless granules. Asci 8-spored; tholus initially thick, thin at maturity. Ascospores transversely septate, oblong to fusiform or somewhat clavate, with ±rounded to subacute ends, hyaline, strongly amyloid, 12–20 × 4–6 µm, with 4–7 (–8) locules; locules ±rounded, subglobose to slightly lentiform; septa thin to thick, regular; ascospore wall thick, initially with a thin halo. Pycnidia not seen.
CHEMISTRY: Thallus K–, C–, P–; no compounds detectable by TLC.
     
  A rare, corticolous endemic in north-eastern Qld; occurs in rainforest at altitudes to 1200 m.
